About Baggy Point

Exposed sea cliff. Tidal, calm seas needed. Westerly winds + swell wet the rock with spray. Bird ban on some sectors March 15 - June 30 (but Long Rock + Promontory open). World-class sandstone with razor-sharp horizontal breaks, small wire placements, and pumpy wall climbing. Facing south into Bideford Bay, the cliff acts as a natural sun trap and dries almost immediately after rain. Classic routes include Kinky Boots (VS 4c), Midnight Cowboy (E2 5c), and Screaming Alpha (E1 5b). Approach is a fifteen-minute walk from the National Trust car park at Croyde.
