About Bee Rock (Monterey)

Bee Rock is a compact south-facing sandstone crag 5 minutes from the Monterey exit on I-40 — historically the first developed climbing area on the Cumberland Plateau (first ascents by Frank Sanders, Eddie Whittemore, Mark Cartwright, Arno Ilgner). Park at Bee Rock Overlook; the access trail drops down a class 3 gully off the backside. Cumberland sandstone wet-rock ethic applies.
