About Beeston Tor

Beeston Tor is a magnificent, 200-foot limestone cliff towering over the confluence of the River Manifold and River Hamps. The rock consists of high-quality, solid gray limestone offering long vertical walls, cracks, and delicate slab features. Facing south-southeast, the main face receives excellent morning and early afternoon sun, drying fast on upper walls while lower shaded trees retain moisture. The crag is a premier Staffordshire trad venue, offering sustained multi-pitch routes across the VS to E4 spectrum. Key classics include Beeston Wall and Castellan. Reach the crag via a five-minute flat walk along the Manifold Way paved path from the station car park. An active seasonal bird ban strictly protects nesting peregrines on central buttresses from March through mid-July.
