About Cheesewring Quarry

Cheesewring Quarry is a historic granite quarry situated on the eastern slopes of Bodmin Moor near Minions. The rock character features massive, smooth quarried granite walls, technical slab friction, and crisp vertical crack lines with precise wire protection. Facing east at an elevated moorland position, the quarry gets morning sun before falling into shade by mid-day, drying at a moderate pace after rain. The climbing focuses heavily on technical traditional testpieces and finger-crimping face climbs from VS to elite E-grades, led by Gribbin Wall. The approach involves a pleasant, fifteen-minute walk up grassy moorland tracks from the village car park in Minions. Cold moorland winds and lingering seepage in deep crack systems are the main conditions to monitor.
