About Creag Dubh

Best roadside crag in Scotland — steep south-facing schist walls on big holds with horizontal strata. Quick drying in sun but weeps after heavy rain. Central Highlands; midges severe in still summer conditions. The rock is smooth and micro-featured, demanding precise footwork, crimpy fingers, and subtle wire placements. Approach takes under ten minutes up steep scree paths directly from roadside parking laybys along the A86 — loose scree at the base and traffic noise from the road below are standard features of the venue.
