About Cinque Torri

The gym of Dolomites climbing — five compact towers at 2200-2360m on a broad meadow at the foot of the Averau/Nuvolau ridge, above the Passo Falzarego road ten minutes' drive from Cortina. Torre Grande is subdivided into Cima Sud, Cima Nord and Cima Ovest; the other four towers add further peaks and boulders. The rock characteristics vary by exposure: south faces are yellowish white with horizontal crimps and dry very quickly; the overhanging north faces are dark grey, solid, with plenty of pockets and stay cool in summer. Approaches are all under 20 minutes from the Rifugio Scoiattoli chairlift or the Passo Falzarego parking. The single best beginner-to-intermediate multi-pitch venue in the Dolomites.
