About Sassolungo (Langkofel) — North Face

The Sassolungo (Langkofel, 3181m) north and north-east faces are complex 1000m walls rising out of Val Gardena below the Passo Sella. Approach from Passo Sella (2200m). The north aspect means the face stays wet after any rain and often through morning mist; combined with meltwater from the summit snowfields into midsummer, this is one of the slowest-drying faces in the Dolomites. Serious commitment. Descend via the normal (III) route on the south side.
