About Domusnovas — Grotta San Giovanni

One of the most unusual sport crags in the world — Domusnovas sits around the Grotta di San Giovanni, an 850m-long natural karst tunnel that once carried carriage roads and is now walkable end to end. The walls that ring the cave and the ceilings inside it host 750 bolted routes across the full grade range. The cave interior is the ultimate wet-weather refuge — climbing in the tunnel is literally shielded from the sky, so a heavy Sardinian storm outside doesn't stop the climbing. Outside the cave, further walls in the surrounding valley add more sport lines. West Sardinia, 50km west of Cagliari — well off the tourist trail so quieter than the eastern venues.
