About Eridge Rocks

Eridge Rocks is a quiet, atmospheric sandstone outcrop hidden within a Nature Reserve near Eridge Green. The rock character consists of soft, moss-rimmed sandstone forming long, low bluffs with sharp crimps, smooth rounded top-outs, and delicate sandy pockets. Facing west within a dense nature reserve canopy, the crag remains cool and retains seepage long after wet weather, drying slowly. The climbing consists of top-roping and bouldering options from lower grades up to hard testpieces, including popular problems like Eridge Wall. The approach takes ten minutes along quiet forest trails from the nature reserve parking layby. Strict conservation and soft-rock rules strictly forbid metal protection or rope friction against the soft rock edges.
