About Fisher Towers

Fisher Towers are the most improbable-looking rock climbs in North America — Permian Cutler Formation sandstone bases capped by harder Triassic Moenkopi Formation, with a distinctive red-mud stucco coating both. Uses our dedicated `mudstone-sandstone` bucket: 72h RED and 168h AMBER after any rain, extending to 240h (10 days) after heavy storms. Mountain Project's explicit warning is 'after a heavy storm the rock will remain wet, sometimes for several days'; local practice is a week's wait after a real soaking. The mud coat re-absorbs humidity, so even a foggy morning weakens the rock for hours. Every route is a serious undertaking — competent aid technique or hard-free ability on mud is mandatory, and belay anchors are often mud-slotted pins and mud-caked bolts. Kor's 1962 first ascent of the Titan (Finger of Fate, 5.8 C2+) opened Fisher climbing; Ancient Art's corkscrew summit reached by Stolen Chimney is the accessible classic.
