About Fleischbank (Wilder Kaiser)

The 2187m Fleischbank is one of the seminal peaks of European alpine climbing. Otto Herzog made climbing history on the East Face here in 1910 with the first-ever carabiner belay, and Hans Fiechtl developed piton technique on the same wall in the years before WWI. The rock is compact Wetterstein dolomitic limestone — Northern Limestone Alps trad country at its finest. The Steinerne Rinne couloir is the iconic north-side approach view. Base at the Stripsenjochhaus alpine hut above Kufstein. First ascent 1886 by Schöllhorn and Widauer.
