About Ginzling Wald

The oldest bouldering area in the Zillertal, on the valley floor just outside Ginzling village. Boulders are scattered through a sparse conifer forest at 1016m so you can chase sun or shade all day, and the impermeable Alpine gneiss (climbers call it granite; geologically it's Zillertaler Zentralgneis, identical in drying character to Magic Wood) sheds surface rain quickly. Parking is on the roadside of the 169/Zillertal Strasse a few minutes walk from the blocks. A perfect midsummer alternative when Font is baking, and a rest-day option from the harder Zillergrund/Ewige Jagdgründe sport routes further up-valley.
