About Harborough Rocks

Harborough Rocks is an unusual dolomitic limestone outcrop situated high on the Derbyshire plateau near the High Peak Trail. The rock is highly textured, yellow-brown limestone filled with large pockets, deep solution holes, and sharp friction holds. Facing southwest in an elevated setting, the rocks absorb direct sunshine all day and dry almost instantly following rain showers due to intense wind exposure. The venue offers short, well-protected trad routes and excellent bouldering problems, mostly concentrated between Moderate and HVS. Popular classics like Harborough Wall provide ideal introductory leading on unusually grippy rock. Access is extremely fast, taking three minutes from the High Peak Trail car park. Strong, biting winds on this high upland site make warm clothing essential even on clear days.
