Masson Lees Quarry is a hidden limestone sport crag located high on Masson Hill near Matlock. The rock is smooth quarried gray limestone featuring vertical faces, sharp sidepulls, and compact friction slabs. With walls facing multiple directions inside the quarry bay, tracking daylight is easy, and its elevated position helps it dry relatively fast after rain. The venue is fully bolted, providing high-quality sport climbs primarily in the popular 6a to 7b grade range. Outstanding climbs like Masson Wall offer sustained technical movement. Reach the quarry via a 10 to 15 minute uphill hike along public footpaths from Matlock laybys. Loose rock near the quarry rim requires careful anchor management.
