About Neist Point

Neist Point occupies the far western tip of Skye, boasting extensive cliffs of high-quality dolerite perched above the Atlantic Ocean. The rock features crisp vertical columns, deep jam cracks, and positive horizontal breaks with sound gear placements throughout. Facing west, the cliffs catch brilliant afternoon and evening sun, drying very quickly under coastal winds when ocean spray is low. The venue is a haven for sustained, single and multi-pitch trad climbing from HVS to elite E-grades, dominated by classics like Financial Direct and Supercrack. The approach involves a twenty-minute walk down paved concrete steps and coastal tracks from the Neist Point lighthouse parking area. Heavy ocean swells and high tides covering low belay ledges are the primary safety considerations.
