About Rocktown

Rocktown is Georgia's flagship bouldering destination — 335+ problems on massive Cumberland Plateau sandstone boulders (many 30–40 feet tall) in the Crockford-Pigeon Mountain Wildlife Management Area (GA DNR), close to the Tennessee border in northwest Georgia. Rock is bomber with slopers, crimps, huecos, rails and intense committing top-outs. Boulders sit on an open plateau with good drainage; Cumberland sandstone wet-rock ethic still applies. — buy in advance at license.gooutdoorsgeorgia.com (no cell service at parking); rangers do check. **Hunt closures 2025-26 (all climbing prohibited): Oct 18-19, Nov 13-15, Dec 10-13, 2025.** Archery season Sept 1 through Jan 1: trails closed until 10 AM daily. Camping is down the road from the parking lot (all Georgia licences include camping privileges); no parking-lot camping. October–April is prime; a Triple Crown of Bouldering venue.
