About Coffee Pot Rock + Boynton Canyon (West Sedona)

West Sedona holds two contrasting areas. Coffee Pot Rock is one of the most photographed formations in Sedona (postcard-famous) — a short original mountaineering route with fun climbing and route-finding, plus a couple of old-school 5.11 lines. Boynton Canyon has 'some of the highest potential for new routes in all of Sedona' with lifetimes of terrain to explore, but the routes are rarely climbed so the rock can be loose and chossy — go with local knowledge or established lines only. Same Schnebly Hill variability and 48h wet-sandstone rule. Access via Soldier Pass trailhead for Coffee Pot, Boynton Canyon trailhead off Dry Creek Road for Boynton.
