About Supercrack Buttress

Supercrack Buttress is Indian Creek's most-climbed area — a west-facing wall holding Supercrack of the Desert (5.10), the Wingate sandstone splitter that gave the entire crack-climbing genre its name after Earl Wiggins's first ascent in 1976. Incredible Hand Crack (5.10) is the other pilgrimage-tick, one of the most-climbed 5.10s on earth. Bring quadruples of hand-sized cams — Indian Creek gear ratios are unlike anywhere else. : BLM Indian Creek and Friends of Indian Creek both specify 24-48h minimum wait, plus the base-sand test (if the sand is damp, turn back). Community enforcement is famously strict; classic routes have been permanently scarred and cams have pulled through wet rock.
