About Uskedalen (Ulvanosa)

Locals call Uskedalen the "Norwegian Yosemite" — Ulvanosa's granite walls rise a full 1,000m above the valley floor and stretch continuously for 3 km, offering some of the longest and finest big-wall trad routes in northern Europe. The rock is thick-grain Precambrian granite with supreme friction on solid rock — a paradise for corners, chimneys, and crack climbing on natural pro. The wall faces north-east so it's shaded most of the day (excellent friction, slow drying — treat it as a rain-shadow crag it isn't). Village of Uskedalen is ~2 hours south of Bergen; expect one other party at most, usually just sheep for company.
