About Voss — Staup
Staup is the flagship Voss-area sport crag — just outside Voss town, high-quality granite, and a very picturesque countryside setting. Developed as a climbing venue from 2019 onwards, with partly continuous lines along slabs, cracks and dihedrals; grades run from 2+ up to 7+, with a strong concentration in mid-grade family-friendly territory. A fixed rope up to a shelf gives access to rigging top-ropes on the shorter lines, making it a natural teaching crag. Two of the routes are long enough to climb as two pitches or with a 70m rope. Voss is the outdoor-sports hub of the Bergen region and sits at the centre of a very large climbing area — 2,337 routes across 115 crags in the regional guidebook. Coastal-maritime climate overall; plan around anticyclones.
