About Wardlow Mires

Wardlow Mires features small limestone buttresses situated above the roadside near the village of Wardlow Mires. The rock consists of pocketed limestone with steep short walls, cracks, and small overhangs. Facing south, the crag receives maximum daylight and dries fairly fast on upper faces, though lower ledges can harbor vegetation and moisture after damp weather. Climbing here is traditional, offering short, punchy routes mostly in the Severe to E2 bracket. Classic lines include Peter Pan and Captain Hook. Access is extremely fast, taking less than two minutes from roadside parking near the Peter's Stone area. Traffic noise and roadside belaying require careful organization at the crag base.
