About Arrochar Caves

Arrochar Caves comprise a group of massive, chaotic schist boulder formations and cliff bases situated on the slopes of the Arrochar Alps. The rock character features dark, overhanging mica-schist with large juggy holds, roof cracks, and steep face features. Facing south on elevated slopes, outer faces dry fast in breezes, while inner cave roofs seep continuously after prolonged rain. Route choices cover steep traditional testpieces and hard roof bouldering from VS to hard E-grades, headlined by Cave Route. The approach requires a sustained, forty-five minute uphill walk from the Succoth car park along forestry tracks. Deep voids between large boulders at the base require careful footwork.
