About Fjällbacka

Fjällbacka is the coastal counterpart to inland Bohuslän climbing — Bohus granite sea cliffs and harbour-side outcrops in one of the most picturesque villages on the Swedish west coast (of Ingrid Bergman fame). The climbing style is more varied here than the pure crack venues: some faces, some cracks, some short deep-water solo lines when the sea is calm. Coastal exposure means Atlantic weather hits hard: onshore westerlies bring salt spray and fog even without rain, and the drying model correctly treats this via the coastal + high-exposure flags. When it's dry, the west aspect gives dramatic evening light. When it's not, the inland Bohuslän crags around Hallinden are usually a better bet.
