Bowles Rocks is a beautifully managed sandstone crag located within the Bowles Outdoor Centre near Eridge. The rock character features clean, fine-grained sandstone with positive pockets, smooth friction slabs, and technical arêtes. Facing due south in an open setting, the crag acts as a warm sun trap and dries very rapidly after rain fronts pass. The venue offers extensive top-roping and bouldering opportunities from introductory grades up to hard 7th grade problems, with Pig's Nose serving as a classic benchmark. The approach takes five minutes along clear gravel tracks from the main outdoor centre visitor car park. Soft-rock protection rules strictly apply: ropes must be extended over edges using carpet matting, and no lead gear is permitted.
