About Buckstone How

Buckstone How is an accessible mountain tier overlooking the top of Honister Pass, composed of immaculate, highly textured volcanic slate-like rock. Facing northwest, the crag receives afternoon sun, while open mountain breezes help dry open faces reasonably quickly following fell rain. The cliff offers outstanding trad climbing focused in the HS to E2 grade range, characterized by immaculate slabs, clean arêtes, and razor-sharp hold edges. Routes like Honister Wall and Cleopatra offer exceptional climbing with easy-to-arrange protection placements. The approach is extremely gentle, taking under fifteen minutes along a slate track from the Honister slate mine car park. Exposure to high winds on the pass is the primary environmental factor to prepare for.
