About Culm Coast (Compass Point)

Compass Wall (VS 4c), Sunburst (E1 5b), North Coast Crack (HS 4b)","Culm Coast (Compass Point) sits just south of Bude, offering striking folded sandstone and shale sea cliff climbing along the North Cornwall coast. The rock features razor-sharp horizontal beds, vertical chevron cracks, and technical slab faces with variable gear reliability. Facing west toward the Atlantic Ocean, the crag gets excellent afternoon light and dries quickly in breezy conditions, though sea mist can leave a damp film. Route selection offers accessible middle-grade trad routes alongside serious E-grade wall climbs, highlighted by Compass Wall. The approach takes ten to fifteen minutes along the coastal footpath directly from Bude town parking areas. Tidal movement covers the base platforms, making low tide essential for a session.
