Demon Wall (E2 5c), Cullinan (E3 5c), The Great Chimney (VS 4c)","Culm Coast (Vicarage Cliff) provides wild, adventurous sea cliff climbing on the northern border of Cornwall and Devon near Morwenstow. The rock character consists of intensely folded Culm measures, featuring interbedded shale and sandstone chevrons with intricate crack lines. Facing west into the open ocean, the cliff catches afternoon sun, but inner corners seep long after wet weather and ocean spray settles on holds. The venue is dedicated to adventurous, competent trad climbers, featuring bold E-grade testpieces like Demon Wall. The approach requires a thirty-minute walk along steep coastal valley paths followed by a tricky abseil descent to low-water boulders. Unstable rock, complex chevron geometry, and severe tidal timing are the defining factors.
