About Diabaig

Diabaig is a famous Torridonian sandstone crag perched above Upper Loch Torridon, offering magnificent sea and mountain views. The rock is world-class red sandstone, featuring pristine vertical walls, smooth slabs, and laser-cut jam cracks. Facing southwest, the cliff acts as a powerful sun trap and dries extremely fast, offering some of the best dry-weather climbing in the Northwest. Route selection focuses heavily on high-quality traditional climbing between VS and E4, highlighted by classic lines like Gairloch Route and Leo. The approach takes fifteen minutes up a clear path from the Diabaig pier parking area. Warm, sunny weather makes this an exceptional venue, though midges can settle if ocean winds drop.
