About Glen Nevis Lower Buttress

Glen Nevis Lower Buttress is a prominent schist cliff located near the entrance of Glen Nevis, providing clean wall climbing on mica-schist. The rock features sharp crimps, distinct horizontal breaks, and positive edges that dry quickly after rainfall. Facing south, the crag captures full sun through the day, making it a reliable warm-weather venue when high peaks are shrouded in cloud. The crag offers a strong selection of trad climbs from Severe up to E3, with Wave and Pandora being standout local classics. The approach is simple, taking roughly ten minutes up a gentle path from the lower Glen Nevis laybys. Midges can be active on calm days, though its low elevation makes access convenient.
