Hell's Lum is a famous Cairngorm mountain cliff situated in the high amphitheatre between Loch Avon and Coire Domhain. The dark granite is compact, featuring massive slabs, damp corner cracks, and sweeping overhangs of fine quality. Facing northwest at over 1,000 metres elevation, the crag receives sun only late on summer evenings, meaning cold conditions and seepage are common. The climbing is concentrated on classic mid-grade traditional multi-pitch routes, headlined by Hell's Lum and The Clean Sweep. The approach takes roughly ninety minutes across the Cairngorm plateau from the Coire Cas parking area. Navigating the steep descent via the Goat Track demands care, especially in poor visibility.
