Holyhead Mountain is the primary non-tidal crag on Anglesey, featuring immaculate quartzite rock overlooking the Irish Sea. The rock is exceptionally solid, offering sharp crimps, clean cracks, and high-friction slab faces that dry almost immediately after rain. Facing west, the cliff captures full afternoon sunlight and benefits from constant coastal air currents. The crag offers a dense concentration of traditional routes from Diff up to E5, making it one of North Wales' most popular mid-grade destinations. Classic routes like King Bee Crack and Branwen showcase pristine wall and crack climbing on sound rock. The approach takes a simple ten-minute walk along clear paths from the Breakwater Country Park car park. Exposure to strong westerly winds is the primary environmental factor.
