About Little Tryfan (Tryfan Bach)

The canonical UK trad-lead teaching crag — a low-angle rhyolite slab north-east of Tryfan proper, sitting in a sunny hollow above Gwern Gof Uchaf farm. South-east facing, low altitude, gentle-angled, well-featured with abundant gear placements, and topped by an easy walk-off — everything you want for first leads. Routes are short (single pitch, up to about 30m) and mostly V.Diff. Popular with instructors self-lining novices and with new leaders on their own; expect groups on any decent weekend. The Arête (D), The Slab (VDiff) and Crevasse Route (VDiff) are the routes everybody starts on. Fifteen-minute flat walk from the road.
