About Rocklands — The Plateau

High tableland sector above the Pakhuis Pass — a short hike gains 400m into a genuinely cooler, windier world. Locals head up here on hot spring days for friction the lower boulders can't match. Exposed to weather in both directions: cloud sits on the plateau while the roadside is sunny, and Cape winter fronts hit here first. When it's dry, it's some of the best rock in Rocklands. Never climb on damp Table Mountain Sandstone.
