About Staffin Boulders

Staffin Roof (Font 7B), Dinosaur Slab (Font 6A), The Block (Font 6C)","Staffin Boulders is a world-class bouldering destination located on the Trotternish Peninsula on the Isle of Skye, set beneath the dramatic cliffline of the Quiraing. The rock consists of massive, fallen blocks of fine-grained dolerite, providing immaculate texture, huge roof features, dynamic sloper mantels, and sharp crimps. Facing east toward the sea from an elevated coastal hillside, the boulders catch morning light and dry rapidly in the strong coastal winds typical of Skye. The venue is dedicated to bouldering, offering iconic testpieces alongside friendly warm-ups, with Staffin Roof standing out as a world-renowned challenge. Approach involves a short five-to-ten-minute walk down from the roadside parking spots near Staffin slipway. The main consideration is wind and weather exposure; while wind keeps midges away and rock dry, gale-force winds can make bouldering difficult.
