About Static Point
Static Point is a Tuolumne-style granite slab dome above Spada Reservoir in the Sultan Basin, on the western slope of the Central Cascades. The wall is roughly south-facing, 1,064 metres in altitude, and holds around twenty routes 5.8 to 5.11+, characterised by long 40-metre pitches with mixed bolt-and-trad protection. Online (5.10b) and Lost Charms (5.10c) are the local classics. Access has degraded significantly — the old logging road is now impassible by vehicle, adding an hour to ninety minutes of walking to the historic thirty-minute approach. The upside is guaranteed solitude, surrounded by alpine peaks. Summer (July–September) is the only reliable season. Not a sport-climbing destination — bring a small trad rack and expect Cascade-style runouts on the slab.
