About Turtle Rock (Vedauwoo)

Turtle Rock is Vedauwoo's most tranquil climbing destination — a huge Sherman Granite dome formation with 89 routes accessible via the popular Turtle Rock Trail loop, offering climbing on every aspect of the dome. Mountain Project notes climbers typically encounter only trail hikers rather than other climbers here. The characteristic 'pink Sherman granite' is the same 1.43 billion-year-old bomber rock as the Nautilus — bring substantial tape, the crystals shred hands. Two definitive local guidebooks: 'Vedauwoo Climbing - A Crackonomicon' and 'The VOO'.
