About World's End (Eglwyseg)

World's End (Eglwyseg) is a striking limestone escarpment capping the upper Llangollen valley, offering pristine Carboniferous limestone climbing. The rock features crisp edges, pocketed vertical walls, and compact slab faces with both trad gear and bolted sport lines. Facing west, the cliff catches brilliant afternoon sun and dries quickly in the breeze, though lower woodland edges can retain humidity. The grade range is broad, covering traditional Severe climbs to hard F7 grade sport testpieces, with classics like Treachery and King Wade drawing frequent visitors. The approach takes five to ten minutes up short scree paths from roadside parking along the narrow valley lane. Climbers must take care not to disturb loose limestone scree near the cliff base.
