About Churnet Valley (Inns Quarry)

Inns Quarry is a disused sandstone quarry sector in the Churnet Valley, offering clean vertical walls and steep bouldering blocks. The rock is soft sandstone that dries somewhat faster than deep wood sectors due to its open quarry layout. Facing south, it receives good sunlight during the middle of the day, helping to clear surface moisture faster than nearby woodland crags. The climbing consists of technical wall routes and popular bouldering circuits on pockets and crimps. Access requires a ten-minute walk from nearby road laybys along established trails. Care must be taken not to climb on wet rock to preserve the soft sandstone texture.
