About Combestone Tor
Combestone Tor is an easily accessible granite tor situated directly alongside the road near Hexworthy on southern Dartmoor. The rock character consists of smooth, weathered granite with rounded slopers, positive crimps, and clean horizontal wire cracks. Facing all directions across a compact cluster of blocks, aspect varies, allowing easy sun and wind selection. The venue offers quality bouldering problems and short traditional scrambles from VB up to 7th grade, highlighted by Combestone Arete. The approach takes under two minutes across flat grass directly from the adjacent roadside parking layby. Roadside access and quick-drying stone make it ideal for brief sessions.
