About Dewerstone
Sheltered river valley — good when the moor is too wet/windy. Lower altitude = warmer. Multi-pitch granite in the wooded Plym Valley near Shaugh Prior, with steep vertical faces, clean corners, micro-crimps, and deep wire cracks. South-facing upper walls dry quickly; lower sectors stay shaded by trees and can hold moisture. Approach is a fifteen-minute uphill woodland walk from the National Trust car park at Shaugh Bridge. Classics include Central Groove (HS 4b), one of the best routes of its grade in the UK, and Leviathan (VS 4c).
