About Craig Dorys

The most popular of the Llŷn Peninsula sea cliffs — and one of the most notorious. Craig Dorys sits at Trwyn y Gader between Abersoch and Aberdaron on adventurous coastal mudstone unlike anything else in Wales. The rock is famously loose and friable, but there's a real concentration of characterful mid- and hard-grade trad routes for climbers willing to accept the terrain, plus Stevie Haston's harder additions. War and Peace, Pat Littlejohn and Steve Sustad's 16-pitch traverse of the crag first climbed in 1997, took 20 hours of climbing over two-and-a-half days on some of the best rock the cliff has to offer. South-west facing, sunny, above the sea. Short drive and walk from Abersoch — but treat the rock accordingly and expect an adventure, not sport-cragging.
