About Creag nan Clach (Loch Carron)

Creag nan Clach (Loch Carron) is an attractive sandstone crag overlooking the waters of Loch Carron in the Northwest Highlands. The Torridonian sandstone is dark red, high-friction, and well-featured with positive flakes, clean cracks, and solid edges. Facing south, the crag acts as a natural sun trap and dries almost instantly once rain passes. The climbing includes both traditional routes and modern sport climbs across French 6th grades and trad VS-E grades, led by Stone Dance. The approach takes fifteen minutes up a moorland track starting from roadside laybys near Loch Carron. Sunny aspects make this a fine shoulder-season venue when coastal breezes keep midges away.
