About Indian Cove

Indian Cove is JTree's separate northern entrance — a self-contained climbing area accessed off Highway 62 rather than the park loop, with its own campground and 800+ routes. Mountain Project notes 'the rock tends to be slightly grainier than some of the other popular areas (Lost Horse, Real Hidden Valley)' and gets crumblier as you head upslope toward the Wonderland. The lower altitude (970m vs 1280m at Hidden Valley) makes it a few degrees warmer — Indian Cove excels in cold winter months when the main park is chilly. Palmreader, Taken for Granite, and 200 Motels are three-star 5.8 classics; the Feudal Wall holds a concentration of 5.10–5.12 lines. Requires the separate Indian Cove park entrance, 45 minutes' drive from the main entrance.
