About Long Canyon (Maverick Buttress + Shipyard)

Long Canyon opens off Potash Road ~15 miles west of Moab and offers two main climbing areas: Maverick Buttress (highest route concentration, easiest approach, best shade) and The Shipyard (further into the canyon). The stone is high-quality Wingate — 'decide what size you want and you can find it, from desperate tips to menacing offwidth'. All routes single-pitch with fixed anchors, though a few require two ropes to descend. Standard 48h wet-Wingate rule. Some lesser-climbed routes hold loose rock — pick popular lines.
