About Medlicott Dome
Medlicott Dome is described on Mountain Project as 'perhaps the best crag in Tuolumne with a high concentration of great climbs' — one of the biggest domes in the meadows, between Mariolumne Dome and Dozier Dome on the south side of CA-120. The dome holds Tuolumne's most notorious route: the Bachar-Yerian (5.11c X, first ascended by John Bachar and Dave Yerian in 1981), the runout knob-climb that defined a generation of Tuolumne trad boldness. The golden west-facing granite is knob-perfect, though the routes are famously stiff for the grade and long between bolts. Peace (5.13d) is the modern testpiece; Shagadelic (5.8) is the friendly-grade classic. Alpine hazards apply — afternoon storms and cold snaps.
