About Stately Pleasure Dome

Stately Pleasure Dome is Tuolumne's introductory-multipitch dome par excellence — a 500-foot sweep of clean granite rising directly from Tenaya Lake with a five-minute approach. The Great White Book (5.6, 5 pitches) is the entry-level classic and by MP ascent counts the most popular route on the dome; South Crack (5.8, 6 pitches) is the definitive splitter finger-and-hand crack, one of the most-climbed routes in all of Tuolumne. Dries fast in the alpine sun. The dome's roadside approach and lower altitude (2542m — the lowest of the classic Tuolumne domes) make it the go-to for shoulder-season Tuolumne climbers. Descent needs care — two bolt rappel stations, and do NOT rap off the trees (they've been damaged).
