About Moy Rock

Moy Rock is a well-known sport and trad venue located near Contin in Easter Ross, featuring clean, steeply overhanging conglomerate and schist rock. The rock character offers steep, physical climbing on rounded cobbles, pockets, and prominent horizontal ledges with well-equipped bolt belays on sport lines. Facing south at low altitude, the main wall acts as a brilliant sun trap and dries very quickly after wet weather, making it a reliable option when higher mountain cliffs are damp. The grade coverage spans moderate traditional routes up to sustained high-grade sport testpieces, featuring standout lines like Eldorado and Little Teaser. The approach requires a short five-minute walk through woodland from roadside laybys off the A835. Midges can collect in the sheltered woodland base during windless summer evenings.
