Facing due south within a sheltered hillside bowl, the crag acts as a powerful sun trap and dries very rapidly after rain showers. The route distribution offers a convenient combination of bolted sport routes and traditional wall climbs from Severe up to 7th grade sport testpieces, featuring popular lines like Split Rock Wall. The approach requires a short, five-minute walk directly from roadside parking laybys along the St Cuthbert's Way track. Excellent sun exposure makes it a fine venue during cooler months, though summer afternoons can be hot.
