About Strathconon Crags

Strathconon Crags consist of a series of pleasant mica-schist buttresses scattered along the scenic Strathconon valley in Ross-shire. The rock character features clean, well-featured schist with sharp edges, horizontal breaks, and distinct corner crack systems. Facing south, the cliffs act as excellent sun traps and dry rapidly following wet weather. Route selection includes accessible traditional climbs from Diff up to hard E-grades, featuring classic lines like Strathconon Wall. The approach takes ten to fifteen minutes along valley paths from roadside laybys along the minor Strathconon road. Midges can gather in sheltered woodland spots near the river on calm summer evenings.
