About The Pear (Lumpy Ridge)
The Pear is one of Lumpy Ridge's most-loved moderate multi-pitch venues — a south-facing Silver Plume Granite buttress just east of The Book, roughly 30 minutes from the Lumpy Ridge Trailhead. The signature route is — widely called "the best 5.8 on the Ridge" and one of Colorado's most-climbed moderates. Cornelius (5.7+) is a great warm-up option; Snake (5.9) and Vagabond (5.9) are the mid-grade classics; Krishna (5.10c) is the harder tick. Same Silver Plume Granite as the rest of Lumpy — dense, high-friction, riddled with clean vertical joints. Shares Lumpy Ridge's weather cell with The Book (adjacent). Free trailhead access outside RMNP's fee zone. **Annual raptor closures typically run February 15 – July 31**; The Pear historically has been quicker to reopen than Thunder Buttress and Cathedral Wall.
